The Fourth is a small, recurring social community for people in the City, beginning with the London insurance market. We bring together people from different parts of the market who might otherwise never meet.
Come once and meet people you would not ordinarily meet. Come back, and something more interesting can start to form.
Most of us naturally build relationships around the people closest to our work. Our teams, functions, clients and existing circles. Being surrounded by people is not the same as feeling known beyond what you do.
There are entire parts of the industry, and thousands of people within it, that we may rarely encounter socially. For people in less market-facing roles, those opportunities can be fewer still.
The Fourth creates another way to cross those circles. Not through networking. Through the kind of conversation that happens when there is nothing to sell and no one expects anything from you.
Everyone does.
No colleagues to retreat to. No plus ones. No existing group to break into. Everyone enters the room on the same terms.
The hypothesis is that removing the safety net changes the room. October is where we test that.
Not in the traditional sense. There are no pitches, panels, name badges or expectations about who you should meet. Professional relationships may come from The Fourth. But they are not the price of admission.
A space outside the structures that usually define us. Somewhere between professional life and personal life, where neither has to determine who you meet.
We keep each gathering small and intentionally mixed. Different parts of the market, different organisations, different career stages. The questions below help us bring the right people into the same room and beyond it.
